Time Machine

(Darren Block)
March 11, 2005
Lord won’t you build me a time machine
So that my kids can see the same things that I’ve seen
A world without remote controls
With empty fields and gopher-holes
Sweet golden meadows and streams

We had so much to do
Before there was so much to do
We barely had time for T.V.
Treehouses in the hills
Bike rides through daffodils
Is all that we needed
On a Saturday or Sunday

So if it’s not too complicated
Won’t you take us all back for a spin
Cause as much as I look forward
To where we’re all going
I’d sure like to show ‘em
Just where we’ve all been

The more that we have
It seems the more that we miss
With a little less living now
Just to exist
The more emails we send
The less kisses we get
And I just want to stop
And go home

So lord won’t you build me a time machine
So that my kids can see the same things that I’ve seen
No rockets to mars
No computers in cars
And when we looked at the moon
We just dreamed.
